Key milestone: sub-systems are available.
"All technical components for the vehicles, the infrastructure and the measuring system are implemented and tested", Marc Bechler from research partner BMW stated in Berlin on 30 November.
All participants, partners and sponsors were enthusiastic about the project progress. The experts and project partners were convinced by the presented sub-systems: the Vehicle Application Unit (VAU), the Communication and Control Unit (CCU), the Roadside Application Unit (RAU), the connection of the traffic control center, the ITS Central Station (ICS), the Geo Server and especially the test system.
The ITS Vehicle Station (IVS) is now ready for systematic tests within the third sub-project. During a very intensive integration phase, all ITS sub-systems were integrated into the basic IVS version. "The simTD test system works and supports the complete test cycle", said Ilja Radusch of FhI FOCUS, "the test scheduling is well prepared by the data acquisition and the scenario editor. The forthcoming experimental procedure can access the completed logging and monitoring. The also completed test system is currently used by the functional development teams to test each component of the overall system".
